The Buffalo Niagara River Land Trust serves a need in the community to provide access to public waterfront spaces and rejuvenate the natural beauty of the Niagara Region. Officially founded in 2012, this organization was created to focus solely on protection of waterfront properties through acquisition and regeneration of real property.
We are a Not-For-Profit 501(c)(3) organization (IRS approval pending) dedicated to enhancing, preserving and protecting property located along the waterways of the Niagara River. The Buffalo Niagara River Land Trust came out of Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper’s Special Initiatives Committee in 2009 in response to the critical need for addressing derelict or neglected waterfront properties that otherwise have potential for regeneration that can benefit people and the environment.
To acquire and manage lands along Lake Erie, Lake Ontario and the Niagara River and their tributaries for ecological protection and enhancement and to improve public access to the water and waterfront..
